| ||I've talked about social phobia quite a bit on this here blog o' mine (here and then more here). I even diagnosed myself with it. A couple of days ago I Googled famous people with social phobia. There aren't a lot of them. They include Donny Osmond, Barbara Streisand, Kim Basinger, and Ricky Williams. You've probably heard of the first three. The fourth, Ricky Williams, was an awesome NFL running back. It's sort of comforting to know that even people with social phobia can go on to become actors, singers, and professional athletes. There may still be hope for me.|
Last night, I saw the video for The Killers' new song, "Human." I've noted it before but I reckon it bears repeating: Brandon Flowers (The Killers' frontman) looks stupid when he performs. I mean, he sings great and all but he just looks awkward and unnatural when he sings. He does all of these movements that are just unnecessary and make him look like a joke. I first noticed this when the band performed on Saturday Night Live. They began playing their song and I thought it was a joke. I thought to myself that the skinny man with the weird mustache singing and doing all of the weird actions just could not be Brandon Flowers. I thought he was a joke but he wasn't. It was definitely his voice. It was him. It's probably just me because my social phobia makes it hard for me to watch others in awkward or embarrassing situations. I'm actually empathizing with Flowers even though he probably doesn't feel that he looks awkward. Another singer that looks awkward on stage is Disney star, Demi Lovato. All of her actions on stage as she sings just seem exaggerated. They don't match the song. She moves like the song is bigger than it actually is. It looks awkward. Don't get me wrong. I love Brandon Flowers and Demi Lovato. They're awesome singers but it's just mortifying to watch them perform.
Give 'em hell, kids.
